A doha is a couplet written in two lines with four divisions.

This method of expressing wisdom, praises, warnings, and observations, amongst others, is very popular in India.
Couplets are easy to remember and easy to recite. After all, what’s the point of expressing wisdom if no one remembers?

Sahib, Rahim, Saejo Bai, Dariya Maharaj, Sant Tulsi Das and others wrote songs as well, but their dohas are still very popular and continue to touch people's everyday lives.
