What are the frames made of?

The black frame is Kiln dried Italian pine.

The silver frame is Ramen wood from Indonesia.

From certain angles, I can see a slight waviness or rippling in my photograph. What is this, and why is it happening?

It is not uncommon in museum-mounted photographs for a slight waviness known as ‘cockling” to appear. Cockling can occur when a museum-mounted photograph is exposed to humidity. RawatCreations uses museum mountings to fully protect and preserve your photograph.  Although ripples may appear in certain lights, the integrity of the photograph is preserved.

Is the framed photograph environmentally friendly?

Yes, our framers are the first custom-framing manufacturer to offer environmentally friendly FSC and PEFC certified products.

How do I care for my custom frame and UV acrylic?

To spot-clean fingerprints off the UV acrylic Plexiglas, use a dry microfiber cloth and wipe in a soft, circular motion.

To properly clean the Plexiglas, mix water and isopropyl alcohol 1:1, and spray onto a clean microfiber cloth. Use the damp cloth to clean the Plexiglas, and dry off with a second microfiber cloth. As an alternative, apply non-ammonia glass cleaner to a microfiber cloth to clean.

Under no circumstances, use water or chemical cleaning agents directly on the Plexiglas. Liquids can seep under the Plexiglas and stain the mat. Do not use acrylic cleaners or polishing agents that may remove the protective finish. Please do not use any chemicals to clean the frames since chemicals can ruin the finish.
